The collaboration was carried out, namely adapting the Mount Merapi Contingency Plan (RenKon) during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The contingency plan is made for a scenario in the event of a catastrophic eruption of Merapi which has a lava dome of 10 million cubic meters and of five million cubic meters. The activity was carried out on 5 November 2020 since the status of Merapi was set to be on standby (level III).
Dr. Eko Teguh Paripurna, as the head of the Covid-19 Task Force for UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, explained that he is currently in the process of drafting a Contingency Plan (RenKon), including the evacuation plan. The Sleman Regional Government is currently conducting data collection and evacuation of vulnerable groups. Vulnerable groups are infants, children under five years of age, children, pregnant or nursing mothers, persons with disabilities and the elderly. A total of 60 residents who has elderly family members were evacuated to the hall of Pakembinangun Village and 475 residents who has family members of pregnant women and / or toddlers were evacuated to SMAN 1 Pakem.
He also conveyed, considering the current condition which is currently in the period of the Covid-19 pandemic, the residents who are displaced must ensure that they carry out 3 M (wearing a mask, washing hands with soap, and maintaining a minimum distance of one meter) both in the evacuation process and in the evacuation place. In order to support the 3M movement, UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta has made efforts to manufacture a means of washing hands with soap.
He appealed to the residents of the Merapi slopes not to be panic, but to stay alert. Prepare the means of transportation and valuables to be brought to the drain when there is an eruption. PR
